These
are
terrible.
I’m glad to see that these aren’t a change to the original formula, if that were the case they might as well have the Cap’N performing hara-kiri with his spoon.
Instead, these are supposed to be a healthier offering – they aren’t. As mentioned onĀ Dave’s Cupboard, they’ve halved the sugar, and that’s about it. These don’t provide any more fiber, have less calories, or have healthier ingredients.
Oh, and did I mention they’re terrible? The different sized pieces somehow throw off the texture, and the flavor itself only hints at what I expect when I hop on board Cap’N Crunch’s vessel. These may have half the sugar, but they’ve got about a fourth of the flavor.
Grade: D- I didn’t vomit, but these are to be avoided.

Cap'n Crunch rips the shit out of my mouth but damn is it good.
Give me real Crunchberries any day!
A healthier version of Cap'n Crunch is a product that was never needed, isn't needed now, and will never be needed.
@foodjunk, it isn't even healthier! The flour they use is no healthier than sugar. Especially since YOUR BODY MAKES IT INTO SUGAR! I'd rather just have it yummy sugar to begin with!
Jake – that it does, but it's well worth it.
Marisa- I'm actually an OG or PB type of guy myself, but I'd take the berries over this nonsense.
FJ – Agreed – my only health complaint is the use of hydrogenated oils in the PB variety.
Brad – yeah, I think FJ was saying they missed the mark on both accounts. I decided to opt out of the all carbs being broken to glucose discussion. but all cutting sugar did in this case was cut flavor.
I HAVE to comment! I just found your blog today and am another Pittsburgher who loves food.
But these Cap'n Crunch look IDENTICAL to a cereal called "King Vitamin"!
Did they cut the top of your mouth to pieces??
Hey Katie, great to make your E-acquaintance! I actually found out after looking at a box of King Vitamin that they are identical. Same ingredients, macronutrients, everything.
I actually think traditional crunch cuts worse -but at least the flavor makes it worth it.
Yuck. Cap'n Crunch is nasty in all of its incarnations. I have never been able to stomach that stuff. Not even when I was kid and ate sugary cereals.
Crunch Treasures is delicious. I just bought some today and love it. It tastes far better than the original Cap’n Crunch which has more sugar than it needs.
These are definitely rebranded King Vitamin and super nasty! I remember when KV used to taste really good…those days are long gone. I wish I had found the review before I wasted a buck on this box – I have to go find something to get this taste out of my mouth now.
