Copycat Momofuku Cornflake Cookies

You’re right, it’s been some time since my last post. I assure you I haven’t stopped eating, or scouring the grocery isles – I was merely on a blogging hiatus for the holidays. So today I’m easing back into thing with a non-traditional review. Some cookies my sister made while I was home for the holidays.

These momofuku cornflake cookie copy cats were made using this recipe. You may think that I would give these cookies a stellar grade for fear of offending my sister – but that just isn’t the case. For one, my sister never reads my site – so offending her is a non issue. Second, I’ll be the first to tell you that the previous batch of cookies my sister baked for me were piss-poor (I blame the recipe – not my beloved sister).

However, even if my sister were to read this site, or I were a nicer brother – the rating wouldn’t be an issue. These cookies were among the best I’ve ever had. Crisp cornflake exterior, with a soft and gooey center. There is a decent amount of salt in the recipe that plays well against the sweetness of the marshmallows and the chocolate chips.

Now Momofuku desserts are supposed to be the epitome of decadence, but even as such – the nutritional values for the cookies were surprisingly respectable. Each 2oz cookie was ~250 cals, 12g fat, 41g carbs, and 2g protein.

I can’t comment on the real thing as I’m yet to have them, but if they’re better than the knockoffs – they may be worth the online purchase.

Grade: A

Going to give this recipe a try!

I never tried this one. I wonder if the commenters on Daily Candy would like this one better?

Yeah, it seems that they forgot to mention a cooling step. I’m thinking copy-cat’s will have less appeal now that the original recipe has been released, but I wouldn’t mind have another dozen or so of these to compare :D
