Halloween Marshmallow Peeps

by Rodzilla · 7 comments

I spotted these Halloween themed Peeps at the local Sheetz. It is a little early for Halloween products to be out in my opinion, but new candy is always exciting.

These peeps are exactly the same format as the chocolate covered peeps that were released this Easter (see here and here for reviews)  The only difference being the marshmallow is orange, and they are in the shape of a jack-o-lantern.

Fans of traditional peeps will once again be disappointed, these peeps are completely void of the all too important sugary crust.  I’m also under the impression that most peeps traditionalists prefer the marshmallow to be a bit hard. These must have been fresh off of the line because the filling was actually moist.

Cross Section of moist marshmallow.

So yeah..wet marshmallow isn’t my thing either. I was actually able to seperate the chocolate coating from the marshmallow to reveal some extra layer of oily residue.

Does that remind anyone else of Uni/Sea Urchin?

So I can’t really recommend that anyone give these a try unless they want an Uni piece for their peepshi.

Grade: D I thought about giving them an F-, but that isn’t a real grade..and I didn’t spit them out. I’ll stick to traditional peeps.

love the fact that there are so many halloween candys in the USA! In Germany it is hard to find anything related to this holiday :(

We do have quite a few Halloween themed candies, but believe me, you aren't missing out with these ones.

Hey, I've seen you comment on a couple of other food blogs so I figured I'd stop by to just say what's up. You and I share similar tastes, so it should be cool to see your reviews. Happy blogging.

Thanks my man (guess), followers are always welcome.

I think they release holiday candy earlier and earlier every year.

I love new candy, but I agree – the sugary crust and hard marshmallow is what makes a peep good! These sound like chocolate-covered marshmallows packaged as peeps. Still, I wouldn't turn it down if someone gave me one.

Peeps are an abomination and should be abolished IMO. Who are the sick freaks keeping these things in production? Plus it's bad enough I have to see their disgusting visage during Easter, but now there's chocolate covered marshmallow turds and "cute" shapes like witches and ghosts during Halloween. I'm sure we'll see Turkey and Christmas Tree shaped pieces of hell soon enough. I'd rather chew on styrofoam covered in Walden Farms'.

Reese's holiday shapes FTW. Fuck Peeps in their stupid mushy asses.

Sorry but I have to disagree with everyone out there. I love the pumpkin peeps. I also love regular Easter peeps but I only like them stale. I know, I know that is weird.
