Ben & Jerry’s Exclusive Target Flavors

Target has two new exclusive flavors of B&Js:  Brownie Chew Gooder, and Berry Voluntary.  I’d read several lack luster reviews, but still decided to pick up a few mini-containers to try them for myself. At least this way I wouldn’t have to worry about finishing a full pint of some garbage flavor, and I got some bomb-ass mini spoons to boot.

Brownie Chew Gooder: vanilla caramel ice cream with fudge brownies and a caramel swirl

-Well it sounded delicious, but it turned out to be rather bland. The brownie chunks were decent but there wasn’t a lot of flavor from the caramel swirl.  The ice cream itself was not as creamy as most B&J flavors, (this could be do to the lower fat content in relation to the other varieties) for whatever reason the consistency wasn’t the greatest, and the flavors weren’t strong enough to warrant a full pint purchase.

Grade: C- it’s ice cream, but it doesn’t have the same quality that I expect from B&J.

Berry Voluntary: raspberry cheesecake ice cream with white chocolatey chips and raspberry swirls.
-Definitely the stronger of the two flavors. The ice cream consistency was back to normal, and the base cheesecake flavor was apparent.  The raspberry swirls are great, not cloying or artificial. I could have done with a few more chunks of white chocolate; perhaps this is remedied in the pint size.

Grade: B- I wasn’t blown away, but it’s a solid addition to the B&J line up.

Neither of these flavors sounded particularly enticing to me. Thanks for the reassurance.
